Regarding the "infinite money" question, I agree with your choice. I hear the power grid is very dated, and has little "wiggle room" to compensate for variations in production or demand of power. It has few ways to competently implement additions of mixed energy production sources. That would be a hell of a worthwhile project. Don't forget to close natural gas, too! Methane is a super potent greenhouse gas. As for the jobs affected, "infinite money" could help invest in alternate jobs for the people in fossil fuels - education, research position, further schooling, late-life career shift training, training in higher-up positions or management, running or repairing the new framework... Now, if only the government didn't find fossil fuels so dang profitable, we could sub "infinite money" with "government fund allocations"...

@kylehill, a lit of your talking points on the biomechanics of firing the Noisy Cricket made me think of an excellent video from @ForgottenWeapons (an excellent channel as well. In it, Ian talks about target pistols made by a man blinded in his 20s (Margolin) who learned modelling and engineering and used those skills, descriptions, physical models to interact with, and a stronger sense of touch and proprioception to learn gunsmithing. In particular, at 10 minutes in, Ian talks about how Margolin invented a gun where the barrel, breech, chamber, and bolt are all in line with the forearm and how that almost eliminated the gun's jumping due to the moment around the wielder's hand and wrist. That's what got me to link the videos' content mentally. Ian's video covers all manner of gun talking points that you did - how the gases ejecting would shift the barrel hence a muzzle brake, how weighting the end of the barrel would reduce the felt impact of this moment, even how the first model had extra weights you could add so that the recoil would accelerate the gun less quickly and how the weight of the projectile affects the experienced recoil (since .22 has super light recoil, for example). Love your vids, as I'm catching up from Nerdist to present day. Lots of great science and memes, wanted to share a practical example of all of your talking points about the Noisy Cricket (minus maybe the wrist-shattering, which if experienced you would require a BONESHADOWER). So this clown is talking about flying very fast, very high, ..... as if that's the only option. This vid is just stupid, this is just looking for things that wouldn't be possible and not looking and things that certainly would lay within possibilities. Look at skydivers but then just not hitting the ground. This dude is a clown and some arguments make no sense at all. Seriously, this dude thinks fear of heights would still be a thing if people could fly???

To commenters mentioning how he is draping the chain over the dummy section instead of pulling it: He addresses why the heat of the chain, thick as hardware store chain, does more than the force - tissue is dissipated by flash-evaporating away more than any force he could apply to the blunt object. Might want to listen to the engineer on PSI vs flash-evaporation statistics. The force having that much effect would mean that branding cattle would push the red-hot brand down to the bone and through it unless you were super careful to just kiss the cow's skin with it. It would be dangerous to hold hardware store chain if any significant force could split you given the heat did so little, and the chains aren't overtly bladed-looking. Pulling the chain would encourage better contact with the stand-in flesh, yes. It would allow better heat transfer, yes. The chain probably weighs 15-20lbs as-is, which is decent pressure. That said it does so little damage to the flesh stand-in that they made the call of "honestly it would be scarring but not cut-through-you-instantly-at-red-hot". That's what he meant when he said "We're not pulling on it because that isn't the mechanism at play here" in the vid.

I aways though that the deathstars magnetic field turned 90° at that point or maybe space curbed 90° at that point maybe do to some sort of black hole effect. But now that I think about it. If the craft that fired the shot would have distance itself from the surface and then fire at an angle. Hitting the side of the closing the projector to bounce in word closer to the recapture. .
